Protez Foundation CEO and co-founder Yura Aroshidze with Keith Kellogg, the U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine and former National Security Advisor to the U.S. Vice President, during a meeting in Washington. We expressed our gratitude for the consistent and unwavering support for Ukraine.

Since 2022, we have had the honor of working side by side with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on vital projects: providing prosthetic care, training specialists, organizing specialized educational programs in the United States for lyceum students whose parents were killed or went missing while defending Ukraine, and supporting and equipping State Emergency Service units responding to the aftermath of enemy attacks. We are grateful to our partners for our shared values, which place people and work that delivers results at the heart of everything we do.

A meeting with a German government delegation led by Parliamentary State Secretary Johann Saathoff to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s healthcare system. In appreciation of Germany’s sustained support for Ukraine, Protez Foundation co-founder Yura Aroshidze presented Mr. Saathoff with a commemorative coin.

Protez Foundation and the patronage service of the Khartiia 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation to provide comprehensive readjustment support and ongoing assistance to wounded service members and veterans. We are already carrying out joint initiatives, including a major conference for 250 support service specialists from different regions.

A memorandum on the continuation of cooperation between the Protez Foundation and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has been signed. Our goal is unity in support and assistance to our heroes who deserve the best. Together we can achieve significant changes in prosthetic care and the provision of high-quality prostheses.

Collaboration and unity are the key to success in our common desire to provide prosthetics and rehabilitation of our heroes at a high level. We have extended the memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and successfully implement joint projects for training specialists and prosthetics for military personnel.

Tetiana

A new prosthesis, university studies and the national team: the story of Ukrainian para-athlete Tetiana

Tetiana is a member of the Ukrainian national amputee football team who has worn a prosthesis since childhood. Seeking relief from the severe pain and discomfort caused by her previous socket, she reached out to the Protez Foundation. The foundation's specialists crafted an anatomical socket tailored to her needs and provided her with a state-of-the-art Kneuro microprocessor knee unit. This customized fit properly redistributed her weight load, enabling her to return to competitive sports. Today, Tetiana is pursuing a university degree, training for upcoming tournaments, and working toward launching her own sports initiatives.

Vadym Fedorov

While defending Ukraine, Vadym suffered severe injuries that led to a double high-level leg amputation.

The serviceman has since successfully completed his prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation in the U.S. Despite immense hardship, he demonstrated extraordinary resilience and has become an inspiration to everyone around him. Thanks to your support, we were able to equip him with state-of-the-art bionic prostheses and help him return to an active life. Together, we proved that we are a strong and united force.

Artem Svergun

He played competitive soccer and dreamed of devoting his life to sports.

On March 2, 2022, Artem and his friends were caught in an enemy attack while playing at a local stadium. As a result of his injuries, he suffered an above-the-knee amputation of his left leg, while his right leg was severely damaged. Despite the tragedy and an extraordinarily difficult path to recovery, Artem demonstrated incredible resilience. He successfully completed his prosthetics fitting and rehabilitation, achieving his ultimate goal: taking his first steps again and returning to an active life.

Volodymyr Kostyria

His dream is to run, jump and play football.

Volodya, a 10-year-old boy from the Dnipropetrovsk region, was born with atrophied lower limbs and spent years moving on his hands and knees. After the amputation of both lower limbs, he traveled to Minneapolis with the support of the Protez Foundation and took his first steps on training prosthetics. His determination and joy were incredible, as he was able to walk proudly for the first time in his life.

Oleksandr

From severe injury to athletic victories and active duty, powered by modern prosthetics

Oleksandr, a service member with the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was wounded in an enemy drone strike in March 2025. Determined to reclaim his active lifestyle, the defender reached out to the Protez Foundation for assistance. The foundation’s specialists custom-built a state-of-the-art bionic hand that allows him to drive, handle weapons, and operate gear with precision. Oleksandr was also fitted with a specialized sports prosthesis designed for high-intensity training. Driven by strong motivation and backed by high-quality prosthetic care, he is already taking home podium finishes in athletic competitions. Today, Oleksandr has successfully returned to active duty and continues to serve his country.

Prosthetic and Rehabilitation Center based on the Ministry of Internal Affairs: an important initiative for military personnel

On December 12, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, the General Director of the Protez Foundation Yura Aroshidze, and the President of Direct Relief Thomas Tighe. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko. The main topic of negotiations was the creation of a prosthetic and rehabilitation center based on one of the medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Protez Foundation co-founder Yura Aroshidze awarded the Order of Merit

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the Order of Merit, Third Class, to Protez Foundation co-founder and CEO Yura Aroshidze. Since 2022, the foundation has brought thousands of people together around a shared mission: helping Ukrainian service members and civilians who have undergone amputations receive high-quality prosthetic care, regain mobility, and return to active lives. This state honor reflects the dedication of the entire Protez Foundation team, as well as the support of donors, partners, and volunteers in Ukraine and abroad. Their daily professional work and years of trust enable patients to access modern, high-quality prosthetic care and comprehensive recovery support. As Yura Aroshidze noted, people, their dignity, and their ability to return to a fulfilling life after injury have always been at the heart of the organization’s work. The Protez Foundation co-founder emphasized that the award is both a great honor and a responsibility to continue strengthening prosthetic care and rehabilitation in Ukraine so that everyone who needs help can receive it. We thank President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for this recognition of our work, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha and Consul General of Ukraine in Chicago Kostiantyn Vorona for their support. We are especially grateful to Ukraine’s defenders for their service to the country and for trusting us on their journey to recovery.

“L.P.S: Ukraine–USA”: 10 lyceum students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs went to the USA

10 lyceum students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs went to the USA as part of the educational trip “L.P.S: Ukraine-USA”. This is a unique opportunity for young Ukrainians to get acquainted with American culture, values, the security system and the work of the police, rescuers and military. And at the same time - to adequately present Ukrainian culture, strength of spirit and patriotism. The trip is organized in cooperation with the Prosthesis Foundation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. We have been working on this project for more than four months to create a rich and valuable program for lyceum students.

Laying of the Time Capsule for the Ministry of Internal Affairs Center

Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, together with Protez Foundation President Yura Aroshidze, laid a time capsule in the foundation of Ukraine’s first Ministry of Internal Affairs Prosthetics and Orthotics Center. The facility is currently under reconstruction. Once completed, it will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The Center will become a space of support, recovery, and dignity for defenders with amputations.
